This post has nothing to do with traveling but I felt it important enough to write it here.

A couple of weeks ago I was diagnose with skin cancer on my face. Well I got the results of the biopsy today. Went to Doctor today and the biopsy results are that I have skin cancer. The good news is that there are three kinds of skin cancer and I have the one that is easiest to treat and least life threating. The bad news is it is the worst kind of five in that group. The Doctor froze it today and got rid of it all we hope. Doctor said he may have to do a couple of touch ups to make sure it is all gone.

We are in Escapees North Ranch RV Park in Congress AZ. Plan on staying here until after the first of the year. Will post if we do anything worth writing about.

Saturday, November 7, 2009

Yesterday we went to THE PEANUT PATCH here in Yuma. We went on a tour and learned how the peanut is planted, grows, harvested and processed. We found out that this area was a major peanut growing area until the white fly destroyed the crop.

After The Peanut Patch we went for a ride through the country and saw acre after acre of different types of fruits and vegetables. It seemed strange to watch the planting in November.

Right now the area is busy picking lemons.

Had a good lunch at MiMi's Cafe in Yuma.

This morning we had biscuits and sausage gravy for breakfast at the clubhouse here in the park.

Monday, November 2, 2009

We had another first today. Whenever we drive on an interstate the west bound lane is north of the east bound lane. Well today on our drive west to Yuma the west bound lane crossed over the east bound lane and ran south of the east bound lane for about a mile. We are in the Escapee CO-op Park called KOFA Retreat. We plan on staying here for a week.

Monday, October 26, 2009

A 298 mile ride today to Rover's Roost RV Park in Casa Grande Arizona. We came here to meet some friends, Bonnie and Alan. We will stay here a week.

Tuesday, September 29, 2009

Thursday, September 24, 2009

What a change we have had. In southeast Texas it was hot and humid, never got below 75 at night. Here in San Antonio it was 58 when I got up this morning and rainy. Because of the weather we decided to stay another day. Hopefully we will head west tomorrow.

Monday, September 21, 2009

We have found out how do more damage. This time I did not get the RV hooked up properly and when I went to pull out of our site I dropped the RV on to the side rails of the truck.

We are in San Antonio Texas in Lackland AFB FamCamp. We are staying tree days.

Saturday, September 19, 2009

Stay up to date with our travels through this blog.

Wednesday, August 19, 2009

It is 25 miles from here to Beaumont, TX. We got word yesterday that a tornado hit the WalMart there and it was headed toward us. Well we got some heavy rain but that was all. The weather in this area makes life interesting. I think when I have to hang up the keys I will head for New Mexico.

Monday, August 10, 2009

A welcome short trip towing the rig today. We only went 65 miles today to Turtle Bayou RV Park in Wallisville Texas.

Unless we go somewhere or something unusual happens I won't be posting to the Blog for awhile.

Could not get on the Internet last night. Changed our route and took US 190 from I-10 to Brady TX and stopped at The Heart of Texas Mobile Home and RV Park. We are here just for the night. This was a nice ride on a good highway. There are not many homes or businesses on this route.

Wednesday, July 29, 2009

Another nice day for driving so we went 340 miles. We are in Pecos Texas at the Escapee park called TraPark. Nothing much to say after driving all day. We went out to eat and on the way back home e stopped at a stand and got some famous Pecos Cantaloupes, three for five dollars. They are huge.

Tuesday, July 21, 2009

We are in Colorado for the first time. Good thing we delayed a day getting here. Last night a tornado came through and destroyed the RV park we where going to stay at. We got the last sight at Clear Creek RV Park in Golden CO., which is 5 miles west of were we planned on staying.

Monday, July 20, 2009

Today is one of those days you wish you could do over. While trying to get into a site in a city park in Torrington WY. I hit a pole with the side of the 5th wheel. Damage was done to the steps to the RV. A place called Cool Custom Body Shop in Torrington used a come along and got the steps working. When I asked how much he said whatever you think it is worth.

We are staying at City Slicker RV Park.

Saturday, July 18, 2009

We drove 89 miles today which is a short day for us. We are at Mountain View RV Park in Sundance WY. After we got set up we drove over to Devil's Tower National Monument. Due to the weather we stopped in Bozeman MT at Sunrise Campground. We had a good drive through the Rocky Mountains.

Friday, July 3, 2009

By the time we leave here monday we will have been here for 10 days.

Friday, June 26, 2009

We are in Missoula MT today and for how long we are not sure. We have hit a bump in the road. Our leveling jacks are broke and we do not know how long it will take to get the parts. Wish us luck. We are at Jim and Mary's RV Park. This park is the nicest park we have ever been in.

Thursday, June 25, 2009

Tuesday, June 23, 2009

Driving up the west coast we went up and down mountains. Today though was fantastic, we had Mt St Helens then Mt Rainier off in the distance as we went up and down the beautiful mountains going east on I-90. Tonight we are in Lake Easton WA.

Monday, June 22, 2009

We are 49 miles from Mount St Helena. This is as close as we are going to get. Our trip this past week has been up and down one mountain after another. Besides we have no desire to be where there is any more snow.

Sunday, June 21, 2009

We went for a ride today up to Crater Lake National Forest. Here is a link to some pictures.

Friday, June 19, 2009

Haven't been able to get on the Internet for a couple of days so here is a catch up.
June 17, 2009
A slight change of plans. Good thing our route and schedules are written in jello. We drove 156 miles to Bear Mountain RV Park in Redding CA. today. We will leave the RV here tomorrow and drive over to the sequoia parks in Eureka CA. to see the giant redwoods.

June 18, 2009
Leaving the RV behind we drove over the mountains and back. We wanted to drive through some of the Redwood Forest. It was fantastic. The Redwoods are gigantic.

Monday, June 15, 2009

Drove 204 miles north on US 101 to Betabel RV Park in San Juan Bautisa California. After we got setup we drove over to the San Juan Bautisa Mission that was constructed in 1797.

We then drove about 12 miles north to Gilroy California which is the garlic capitol of the world. It smells like it.

Sunday, June 14, 2009

A great weekend has come to an end. Our two youngest sons surprised us and showed up Friday morning. We had our daughter, two youngest sons and two granddaughters with us for the graduation of our granddaughter. It was a great weekend.

We went to a couple of beaches. Had a camp out with our granddaughter's family at a popular lake in the area.

Thursday, June 11, 2009

Yesterday our daughter and her youngest flew in from Pennsylvania. We got her oldest (the graduate) and met them at the airport.

Then when we returned to the FamCamp our friends Bruce and Lorraine were at the FamCamp.

Today we drove up to Pismo Beach with our daughter and youngest granddaughter. This place is a lot like the beach towns on the Atlantic. Our dog got to get his feet wet in the Pacific Ocean.

Monday, June 8, 2009

We got to spend the day with our granddaughter. A first for us, we got to put our feet in the pacific ocean. The water was pretty cold.

Another first for me occurred today when a package was delivered to my granddaughter's home. In the package was a pair of hearing aids for this old man. I have spent the day hearing things I haven't heard in years. It will take some getting used to them.

Saturday, June 6, 2009

Up and down over hill and dale we went through the mountains. Drove 206 miles to Vandenburg AFB FamCamp. We are about 20 minutes from our granddaughters house. We will be here for at least a week.

Friday, June 5, 2009

It was a great day for driving today. We went as far as Mojave CA and pulled into the Spaceport RV Park. This would be an interesting place to spend some time at. I am really surprised as how well the truck handled the mountain driving.

Thursday, June 4, 2009

Today is a first for us. This is the first time we have been in California. We are in Needles, California at the Rainbow Beach Resort right on the Colorado River. It may be a nice park but for just staying the night $30 is a little high. Today was a nice short driving day, just 183 miles.

Wednesday, June 3, 2009

We have returned to a RV park that we stopped at on our first RV trip 8 years ago. We drove 286 miles to Williams, AZ and pulled into the Canyon Gateway RV Park. This place has really improved in 8 years. When last here we took a tour of the Grand Canyon. On our way here we stopped at Camping World in Flagstaff and got our lifts fixed.

Monday, June 1, 2009

Drove 263 miles today to Grants NM to the Blue Spruce RV Park. Had a little excitement while going through Albuquerque NM. While navigating through construction and noon traffic our bedroom window opened up. Got off of I-40 and closed the window.

Sunday, May 31, 2009

We drove 308 miles today and are now on our planned schedule. We are in Tucumcari, NM. at the Kiva RV Park. We have had a couple of beautiful traveling days.

Saturday, May 30, 2009

We are trying to make up for the time lost yesterday. We drove 8 hours and 336 miles today. We are at the Route 66 Overnight RV Park in Weatherford OK. It was a great day for driving.

Friday, May 29, 2009

Well we are on the road heading to our granddaughter's graduation in California. Today was one of those days if you know what I mean. As most of you know we have spent the past week in Sedalia, MO. State Fairgrounds at the Escapees Escapade. Well it rained all week and the fairgrounds was just a muddy soupy mess. We were stuck so we had to wait for a tow.

We didn't get out of the Fairgrounds until 2:45 PM. We drove 188 miles to Ballard's RV Park in Carthage MO. We got here about 7 PM. We will be back on the road in the morning.

Saturday, May 23, 2009

Another of our short driving days. We drove 48 miles to The State Fairgrounds in Sedalia MO. We are here to attend the Escapade 2009 and will be here until Friday.

Sunday, May 17, 2009

We have gone for a ride the past couple of days. One day we went 'wining' or checking out a number of wineries in the area. Another day we went down to Sadalia to check out where the Escapade will be that we are going to. The past two days we stayed in town. Today believe it or not we found the best Mexican Restaurant in the country 'so far'. The restaurant is called La Carreta Restaurant.

Tuesday, May 12, 2009

Another nice day riding through the countryside. We are in Higginsville MO at the fairgrounds and will stay here until the 23 of May.

Monday, May 11, 2009

We stayed a week at Spring Lake. Spring Lake is the best RV Park we have been to except for a couple of Escapee Rainbow Parks.

Today we drove to   Williamsburg KS to Homewood RV Park. The drive was only 150 miles. We will move on in the morning.

Sunday, May 10, 2009

Happy Mothers Day to all you mothers out there.

Yesterday was a very good day. It started with breakfast at the clubhouse then our good friends, Ron and Leone, came over and we spent the day playing cards. Then we treated our friends to dinner at the clubhouse. It sure was great having them over.

Wednesday, May 6, 2009

The clouds have left and the sun is finally shining in Kansas. We really like this park, Spring Lake RV Resort, it is a lot like an Escapee Rainbow park. We went on a dine out last night with 15 other couples. Friday there will be a snack bar and bingo. Saturday there will be breakfast first then supper at the clubhouse. Then
Sunday  morning there will be breakfast (eggs) to order. This is a possible place to work camp in the future.

Monday, May 4, 2009

Well so much for planned routes. We blew it today. We read about some places we would like to check out so instead of following our planned route we went riding around the countryside, yes the 5th wheel in tow.
We went to Yoder, KS to  an Amish meat market called Yoder Meats. Then it was of to Hutchinson, KS. and  the Dutch Kitchen Restaurant, we got lost. Very interesting finding my way around with RV in tow. Last we headed east on Hwy 50 and found Spring Lake RV Resort in Halstead, KS. We will stay here at least three nights.

Friday, May 1, 2009

We went The Pancake House in Guymon, OK this morning. I almost made a mistake. The restrooms had "Angel" and "Dips" the doors. I was going to go into the first but thought better of it.
We drove through Greenville KS. on our way east. This is the town that was wiped out by a tornado last year and is rebuilding "green".
We are in Pratt KS. today at the Evergreen RV Park. We plan on staying a couple of days.

Thursday, April 30, 2009

We find ourselves at Panhandle RV Park in Guymon OK. We couldn't believe it but today we saw a lot of antelope. this was the first time since we started full timing in 2002 that we saw any kind of wild animals.

Wednesday, April 29, 2009

We drove 241 miles today. All of it was on I-25. We are in the high prairies of New Mexico. Sure was glad we had a tailwind. We are at Kickback  RV  Park in Raton, New Mexico.

Monday, April 27, 2009

We spent the day riding up to Santa Fe, NM on the Rail Runner. We left the RV about 9 am and drove to downtown Albuquerque and got on the Rail Runner. The train took us to Santa Fe. We ate Tomasita's Restaurant right there at the depot. We walked up to the city Plaza and did some shopping. We then boarded the Rail Runner at 4:10 pm and got back to Albuquerque about 5:35 pm. Had a good day.

Sunday, April 26, 2009

Last night we spent the evening with our very good friends, Bruce and Chris. They took us out to a great restaurant Ragin Shrimp. For a shrimp lover like me I was in heaven. After supper we went back to their house and just chilled out and socialized. What a great evening. Thank you Bruce and Chris.

Tuesday, April 21, 2009

Well another one of those short trips. We are back at Kirkland AFB FamCamp  and we will be here at least six days.

To view some pictures from the Rally goto -

Monday, April 20, 2009

We just got back from a concert by Papa Doo Run Run. They played a lot of Beach Boy songs. For me it was to loud. Well tomorrow we will be moving out of here.

Sunday, April 19, 2009

It's 9pm and we just got back to our rig after a fantastic show by the Osmonds Brothers. It was the best show of the Rally so far.
Last night we where entertained by Rita Coolidge. After the show right alongside of where our RV was parked there was a Balloon Glow.  There was seven hot air balloons tethered to the ground and the operators kept lighting a flame that made the balloons glow. It was beautiful. After this Rally is over I will post somemore pictures.

Friday, April 17, 2009

We started this adventure in 2002 and one of the most important  things to do was to avoid snow. Well it snowed this morning and it is snowing and raining at 10 pm tonight. We just got back to our rig from the entertainment tonight which was Neil Sedaka.

Thursday, April 16, 2009

We drove all of 17 miles today. We are parked in the Balloon Fiesta Park. Sunday we drove here just to see what it was like. This was a huge open field. Today it is full of RV's, what a site. We are here for the Good Sam National Rally. We will be here until Tuesday morning.

Monday, April 13, 2009

We went to the Rio Grande Botanic Garden and Albuquerque Aquarium today. To see the pictures I took goto http://picasaweb.google.com/embrydad/20090413#

Saturday, April 11, 2009

One of the great things about this RV lifestyle is the ability to meet friends and find new things to do. Yesterday morning we went to a great German Deli called Alpine Sausage Factory and Deli. In the evening we went to Bruce and Cris's house and after visiting awhile we went to Route 66 Diner with them.

Today is another story, it was cold and rainy when we got up and stayed that way until about 2:30.

Hope everyone has a Happy Easter.

Friday, April 10, 2009

Yesterday was a lazy day. We stayed at the site rearranging cupboards and such. The wind was blowing pretty hard. Today we are going to do some shopping on base. Hopefully we will get to spend some time with our friends Bruce and Cris this weekend.

Wednesday, April 8, 2009

Well we are on the move again, We are at Kirkland AFB,in Albuquerque, NM, until the 16th. Then we will go to the Balloon Fiesta Park for the Good Sam Rally. We started the day going to a tire shop to get the wheel bearings repacked. The shop took all four wheels off and found that the bearings where fine. The best part they didn't charge me anything. We were worried about the wind when we left but by the time we got on I-25 heading north the wind kicked up but it was a welcome tail wind.

Tuesday, February 10, 2009

Well my "friends" up north got their wish. We got about an eight of an inch of snow this morning. It is suppose to go down in the low twenties tonight.

Tuesday, February 3, 2009

Had a god day today. It started out with a free breakfast at Deeny's. At noon time we had a dinner at the senior center that cost $2.00 each. Then in the evening we got to play mexican train.

Monday, February 2, 2009

February  2, 2009
We are at our next assignment at Dream Catchers RV Park in Deming NM. We will be here until mid April. There are a lot of fellow RV's that we have met before. That is what is nice about this lifestyle, meeting friends wherever you go.

Thursday, January 29, 2009

January 29, 2009
Our first trip in 2009 finds us at Fort Bliss Army Base campground in El Paso Texas. We will stay here until Monday morning. Monday afternoon should find us in Deming New Mexico. We did pretty good considering we drove over the mountains with a slight head wind. We got 7.4 MPG.

Friday, January 2, 2009

A little late but Happy New Year to everyone.
We decided to go for a ride today. We went south on Texas Rt 17 to Fort Davis. Then we went south and east to Alpine. This was a nice ride through the desert mountains. The scenery was fantastic.
